Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that French striker Alexandre Lacazette will debut in the friendly against Sydney FC on Thursday.

With little time wasted by the gaffer in strengthening the group and bringing in Lacazette as well as Sead Kolasinac, both are part of the travelling squad and Wenger told the Official Site that Lacazette would play a part in both games in fact.

‘Lacazette will make his debut here, yes. On Thursday night he will certainly play a part in the game and in the other game as well. In the two games he will take part.’

Including Kolasinac is his talk, Wenger went on to say that he felt both players would relish our style of play and more than fit into that style and show their qualities on the pitch.

‘We play football based on movement, technical qualities and mobility, and I believe that both of the new signings can integrate well into the team. One is a defender who can play on the flank and centrally, and one is a striker with a very good goalscoring record, so I believe that they are great additions to the team. It`s a good opportunity as well to have a first look at how well and how quickly they will integrate with the way we want to play.’

Having spoken about our two signings, Wenger was also pressed on whether he had finished dealing for the summer now. Plenty of players remain linked with us such as Thomas Lemar and Riyad Mahrez to name just two, but Wenger is certainly open to more if they can improve the group as a whole.

‘I am open to get some more signings, but it is not easy to find the players who can strengthen our squad, because we have top-quality players. There are two ways to improve always: analyse what we did well last season and what we did not so well and improve that, and then you can bring new players in. But at the moment, because we are in pre-season, it is very important for us to analyse well what happened last season and where we can improve. We have top quality in our squad, and at the moment I focus on that.’

With Lemar linked, Wenger explained.

‘That`s all speculation at the moment, there is nothing really concrete about any signing.’

Questioned directly if we’d made a bid.

‘He`s a player that we have looked at, but the rest is only speculation.’

Kylian Mbappe is another regularly linked player.

‘He`s a player who, when he gets up in the morning, can choose where he wants to go. There are not many players with that kind of luck, because he`s only 18 years of age and has the whole of Europe rolling out a red carpet for him. Nobody can say they are not interested in a player of that calibre, because he has such immense quality at 18 years of age. All the clubs are open and interested in him.’
