Laurent Koscielny has been talking about Arsene Wenger and the kind of manager he is, and he’s said he’s hoping to return to the starting line up for today’s friendly against Chelsea.

Having sat out the penalty victory over Bayern Munich, Koscielny told the Official Site that he hoped to get the nod for this afternoon’s kick off against Chelsea at the Bird’s Nest in Beijing as his back felt a lot better now.

‘My back is better. I had a little pain one morning, so I had treatment over the past two days. Today I trained and was OK. Not 100 per cent, but I`m OK for playing. We will see tomorrow. We have worked well during this tour of Australia and China. We worked well physically, technically and tactically, and we have some friendly games to show what we`ve learned during our sessions.’

Koscielny went on to say.

‘The game against Chelsea is for this and we want to win because a win here would give us the confidence we need to play with freedom. I hope all our players are focused on the new season because we need to play to win our first game.’

Talking more about Wenger, Koscielny went on to say that he’s the kind of manager who build’s players up and helps grow their confidence.

‘I think all the players who have been trained by Mr Wenger have a lot of respect for him. For me, he`s an important person because he brought me in when I played in France. He gave me the chance to play for a big club like Arsenal, to play in the Champions League, to play for the France national team. If you want to play for the national team, you have to play for a big club and that`s what I did.’

Adding.

‘He built up a lot of people and always built the man. I have a big part of my life dedicated to Arsenal. I have a close relationship with the boss and the club. I`m happy at Arsenal, I have my children here, so Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are very important to me and the other players.’

Looking towards Chelsea, Koscielny actually joined Wenger at the press conference.

‘It`s always difficult to predict, but although it`s a friendly between Chelsea and Arsenal, it`s not really a friendly because there`s always some pride at stake and some London desire to have the superiority. It was a very interesting game in the final of the FA Cup, and we play against Chelsea in the Community Shield, and again very early in the season. We know each other very well and it`s difficult to know how prepared Chelsea are and how far we are with our preparations. Saturday will be a good indication of that and we were good against Bayern. This is another test for us before the season.’

Wenger went on to say that we had a clean bill of health ahead of the game, but Theo Walcott might miss out with a small issue.

‘Theo might not play. Today we had 21 players fit. Theo was not ready to train and I don`t think he will be ready, but it`s nothing major.’
