Laurent Koscielny and Rob Holding have both been speaking following the weekend’s victory over Watford.

Taking the three one win and Arsenal’s first three points of the season at Vicarage Road, Koscielny was speaking first to the media following the full time whistle, and skippering the side to victory was something he was pleased with given our start to the campaign so far.

Speaking to the Official Site he explained.

‘I think it was very important. We didn`t start the season well but we showed some good things at Leicester and today we wanted to finish the job before the international break to get the three points. We played very well between the lines, they played with five defenders and we were better. In the second half, we were a bit asleep and needed to wake up. We gave the ball to Watford and they can play with it, but the most important thing was to get the three points.’

He also felt the goals had come at the right time for Arsenal and even though they did get a consolation back in the second half, he felt we’d killed the game off nicely in the opening 45 minutes.

‘It is very important to kill the game. In the first half you can score three goals and kill the game, which is very good. In the second half they came back at us, so if we hadn`t scored the second and third goals it would have been more difficult for us. You need to play and score.’

He ended by saying that negativity is difficult given the opening results, but it’s down to the players to change that, and he was also confident manager Arsene Wenger would still be adding to the group before the transfer window shut on Wednesday.

‘It is always difficult, it is like a mountain – you have some good and bad results and you need to stay strong. We are together and we need to play and get some wins in a row. The season is very long and you can see with all the money in the league, that every team can sign good players. You need to be focused on our philosophy and how we want to play. First of all, we have a few people injured. When you start the season with Welbeck injured, Mertesacker and then Gabriel out, it is difficult. You need to have some players, because when you play every three days in September, October and November you need a big squad to fight in every competition. I am sure the boss will buy some players to help us.’

As for Holding, in his own post game interview, he was pleased to pick up his first win given his run in the first team this year.

‘That`s what everybody likes to do. We like to get the three points most importantly and then send a message and score as many goals as we could. We couldn`t keep the clean sheet that we wanted, but we got the three goals which was enough.’

As for his own start to the season, he added.

‘I`ve enjoyed every minute of it. I`ve been welcomed in by the group of lads, it`s been a great start for me and we`re just building on each game and hopefully we can keep winning.’
