Among those jumping on this story are the Sun, who report Arsenal have turned down a pitiful offer from Italian champions Juventus for Wojciech Szczesny.

Close to sealing a move to Turin, according to recent reports, Szczesny wouldn’t appear near going anywhere apart from back here in North London as Petr Cech’s deputy next season as things stand.

Apparently offering just £4m, Juventus, aware of Szczesny’s desire to remain in Italy after a two year loan at Roma and the fact the goalkeeper only has a year on his Arsenal deal, will not meet the £13m asking price.

Szczesny, 28, wanted to stay at Roma but the Serie A runners up have other ideas, boss Eusebio Di Francesco will bump Allison Becker up the pecking order in order to save on Szczesny’s £80,000 a week deal, reports the Sun.

Napoli are another side to show interest in the keeper but they too aren’t prepared to match the asking price so Szczesny, a move welcomed by Arsene Wenger, could return to Arsenal next season.

He wouldn’t be expected to sign a new Gunners deal though.
