Interesting draw for us in the FA Cup away to last seasons finalists and former winners (in 1927) of the trophy – Cardiff City. The league one side, currently 4th in the Championship, has a decent home record and will provide tricky opposition.

Former gooner trainee Jay Bothroyd currently turns out for them and they have a fair amount of premiership experience in their squad. This includes keeper Enckelman, skipper Darren Purse and midfielder Ricardo Scimeca. Another name likely to be familiar to gooners is Mark Kennedy who scored a memorable goal for Millwall to knock us out of the same competition back in 1995.

It`s a competition that we are likely to take more seriously than we have done at times over the last 2 or 3 seasons as our title aspiration fades for this season. That should ensure we avoid any complacency and hopefully our summer signing from Cardiff, midfielder Aaron Ramsey who came on as a substitute at Wembley, will be able to give us some helpful insight.

The tie is scheduled to take place at Ninian Park over the weekend of 24-25th January.
