Last October, source’s claimed Arsene Wenger had pulled off another major transfer coupe as an oversight meant Barcelona’s wonder kid, Fran Merida, would be able to walk away for free after a club executive failed to sign the contract.

Since then however, nothing has been heard, Vital Arsenal member, NineteenNinetyOne, takes up the story.

Is Merida too good to be true?

After all the hysteria about Arsenal having taken the youngster Fran Peres Merida off Barcelona’s books, do we know when we’ll hear any more about him?

Rumours were rife that he would soon be signing as an Arsenal youngster once he turns 16, but that was several weeks ago now. Since then, nothing.

No doubt all gooners have heard of, or even seen the ‘Merida videos’, so it makes it even more puzzling that a teenager with such immense skill is hardly seen or heard of.

He is in many ways the complete footballer – fast, good on the ball, fantastic at passing and at free kicks, has a shot like an armour-piercing shell and enough sublime little tricks to even dazzle Ronaldinho himself.

If compared to a magician, Merida could easily be David Copperfield to Ronaldinho’s Tommy Cooper! Built like Maradona, with the skill to match, combined with the dexterity
of Bergkamp and the speed of Henry, this kid is simply awesome.

So where is he?

Maybe Merida will be revealed as one Wenger’s ‘players of great cailbre’ during his Summer spending spree – but one assumes that Wenger’s referring to players who have, as yet, no connection with Arsenal.

So when will the silky skills of Merida be shown for us all to admire?

Or is it all too good to be true?

Scarey, isn’t he?!?!
