Arsenal have this season, suffered the worst bout of injuries in living memory.

Arsene Wenger has not been able to field a full strength Arsenal for more than one game on the trot this season, and at one point, had Eight defenders out of action at once.

Today however, Arsene Wenger gave clues that the crisis may be coming to an end.

Dennis Bergkamp and Freddie Ljungberg will both return to action this weekend, with Robin Van Persie possibly coming back for the massive Real Madrid game in the Champion’s League next week.

Wenger gave the details of the rest of the injury list in a press conference today.

?Freddie and Dennis (both calf) are alright,? said the manager. ?Robin van Persie should be very, very close over the weekend. He still cannot put his boot on yet but we hope he will be available for next week. Pascal Cygan will be one more week I feel.

?Kerrea Gilbert (back) is still out then we have the usual ones ? Lauren (knee) and Clichy (foot) ? who are still completely out. Many players are coming back but we still have to be patient unfortunately.?

Le boss also gave the extent of Ashley Cole’s injury suffered earlier this week.

?We had first very bad news then much better news,? said Wenger. ?In the end it was very reassuring. Ashley will be out for three weeks minimum because of an ankle sprain. It is on the left foot and it is nothing to do with the surgery he had before. But it is still a pain that stops you from playing.?

Campbell is also only a week or two away from returning to action.

?He is doing very well in training,? said Wenger. ?I believe he will be out for another two weeks maximum. One week to get back to full training and another week to get back for a run-out in a game.?
