‘I expect something special’: Fabrizio Romano voices opinion on future business

|

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal could be due to do something exciting in the January transfer window.

The Gunners are entering December with five losses in their opening 10 Premier League, the club’s worst start to a top-flight season after 10 games since 1981/82.

Appearing on theĀ Que Golazo podcast, the famed journalist claimed that he expects the club to undertake ‘exciting’ business next month.

Do Arsenal need to sign a creative midfielder in the January transfer window?

Yes

No

Whilst the news is incredibly uplifting for the supporters of the club, it will take more than just transfer business to turn the side’s season around. Don’t get me wrong, signing a creative midfielder could well solve a load of issues for the Gunners, who have lacked any sort of spark in the final third. However, there are issues from Mikel Arteta’s ends which is threatening to derail their Champions League dreams.

According to ESPN, the Gunners have been offered the chance to sign Christian Eriksen from Internazionale. Meanwhile, The Athletic are claiming that Dominik Szoboszlai is a target for the club. However, if Arteta continues to concentrate on the defensive side of the game rather than the outfit’s strengths, attack, as mentioned before, then even Lionel Messi wouldn’t make a difference.

A run of over seven hours without a goal from open play, crosses with no end product, an attack which has just six goals between them so far this campaign and a defence which has been obliterated recently. Signings can only take a club so far before you realise it’s really the manager who is the issue. But, if Arteta can prove that signings were the reason he wasn’t getting it right than the supporters are in for a treat come May 2021.
