Robin van Persie has hit the back of the onion bag five times in Arsenal’s four matches over the Christmas period to make him the Gunners top marksman so far this season.
His current goal scoring exploits have earned him plaudits from Arsenal’s all time leading goal scorer and current club captain.
‘He’s shown ever since he arrived here that he is a scorer of great goals,’ said Henry.
‘He’s done it this season but also in previous years – every goal he scores is a smashing one.’
‘He has the ability to be one of the best players in the league. He has matured a lot and he does stuff in training that I have rarely seen before.’
I particularly enjoyed the celebrations between Henry and van Persie after the Dutchman smashed home the penalty with his deadly left foot.
Good to see them both smiling again.
