Arsenal captain Thierry Henry has urged governing bodies to introduce policies and traditions featured in Rugby whereby the players can communicate freely with match officials.

Thierry Henry was furious last night after the referee refused to discuss an incident that saw a goal ruled out and a player booked which Henry believed was incorrect.

The French talisman thinks it would be beneficial to all if players and ref’s alike talked more.

‘People talk about footballers behaving like rugby players and accepting decisions,’ said Henry. ‘But rugby players can talk with the referee. We can’t.

‘When you come at them, try to speak to them then they don’t give an answer and won’t even speak to you. That is difficult to take.

‘You don’t want to have a go at them, but just to ask them what they saw at crucial times and yet you’re not allowed to do that in football. I would like the game to be a bit like rugby at times because in football you just cannot speak to referees.’

In theory, I believe the game would benefit from better communication between players and officials, but at the same time, the players need to talk to the ref’s rationally with out screaming and swearing like we have seen on so many ocassions.

I’ve watched Rugby in the past (sorry lads) and the respect these huge hard geezers have for the officials is astounding.

I think there needs to be a little bit of give and take from both parties.
