Cult hero PERRY GROVES shares his views on the Gunners’ boardroom battle, their foreign legion and why Thierry Henry’s departure was the best thing that could have happened to Arsenal.

‘I said at the beginning of the year that getting rid of Thierry Henry would be the best thing they`ve ever done, because I thought he was a negative influence on the younger players. I thought they would start to flourish and express themselves more, which they have.

‘English players are not good enough! I`ve always said I don`t think the coaching is good enough in this country for kids aged six to ten. No one can tell me kids that age aren`t as good as Brazilian kids because it`s all natural talent at that age, so not about the way it`s nurtured. That means the English players have got to step up to the mark.

‘They did a phone-in on Sky Sports the other week. You had Man United fans phoning in moaning, you had Chelsea fans phoning in moaning and you had Arsenal fans phoning in moaning! The more you give people, the higher their expectations. That`s football fans!’
