Mohamed Elneny signed for Arsenal from Basel last week and whilst he didn`t make his debut against Stoke last Sunday he has already made a good impression with his team mates.

As we have already noted, the midfielder is a well documented grafter, covering more distance in the Europa and Champions League in the last two seasons than any other player.

It`s this work rate (and being a nice guy) that has impressed Olivier Giroud in the short time Elneny has been with us.

“I`ve trained with him and he`s a good player, very talented but first of all he is a good guy – I think he will settle well into the team,”

“I think he`s basically a box-to-box midfielder, so he can attack and defend, run a lot and has good power and technique. He is quite a complete player.

“It always takes time to adapt to English football because there is a lot of intensity, it is very physical and even tactically [you must get used to it] – but I think Premier League football will suit him well.”

Arsenal face Chelsea on Sunday and Elneny could be in line to make his debut. Mathieu Flamini has filled in in midfield following Le Coq`s injury and as the pension of the team could probably do with a break.
