There weren`t many Arsenal players who could walk out of Anfield with their heads held high last night as across the board we were pretty poor, but despite missing an open goal, Olivier Giroud was one of those players (the excellent Joel Campbell being the other).

Much of the focus in today`s rags is on the miss by the big Frenchman, and yes it was a bad miss but a striker`s job is to find the back of the net and give your team a chance at winning, and after bagging his 17th and 18th of the season last night he did just that.

Unfortunately the all round team performance just wasn`t enough and we walked away will the most likely unlikely draw you will see.

Giroud himself recognised that character we showed to twice come from two goals down and eventually take the lead but ultimately the draw means we could have done better.

“It was a nice game for the fans because there was a lot of intensity and chances to score. But when you concede three goals in an away game, it is hard to win. We should have been stronger at the end because we did well in the second half. But we have shown some character to come back from 1-0 and then 2-1 down.”

“It has been a special game for me. I scored the second goal, but after that I missed a chance but Theo did well and I knew he was going to do that but I saw it at the last moment and couldn`t tuck it in, so I was a bit frustrated. But I was pleased to get the third goal that I hoped would win the game but it wasn`t enough. But that`s it, a good performance but we could have done better.”
