French striker Oliver Giroud celebrated his 100th Arsenal goal in last night’s Europa League tie with BATE Borisov.
Scoring our fourth goal in the four two victory, Giroud notched up his 100th strike five years to the week where he opened his Arsenal account.
Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game to talk about his achievement, Giroud was thrilled to have broken the three figure mark and he was hoping it wouldn’t end there.
‘Yes, I`m very proud of that. It`s been a few weeks. To be honest with you I was expecting this goal, but sometimes you shoot without looking at the goal and it goes in, while sometimes you are struggling a little more with bad luck or misfortune. I`m glad and I`m happy for myself and hopefully more will come.’
Having joined the club back in the summer of 2012, Oliver opened his account in a League Cup six one victory over Coventry City and he opened his Premier League account a few games later in a three one win over West Ham.
Sitting in 19th place in the scoring list, seven more goals would see him move onto joint 16th.
