Kieran Gibbs has barely featured for Arsenal this season but that hasn’t prevented him from being called into the England squad following the injury-enforced withdrawal of Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand.

Gibbs has seen himself slip down the England reckoning having failed to start a Premier League match this season for Arsenal.

In fact the 27-year-old has managed just a little under 30-minutes of first-team football this season but with a World Cup qualifier against Slovenia on Tuesday the left back has been called into the squad in place of Bertrand after he was taken off just 20-minutes into the win on Saturday.
