Liverpool captain, and winner of the 2005 Neil Mellor lookalike competition, Steven Gerrard acknowledged that Arsenal have made a belting start to the season, saying we’re on fire and playing out of our skin.

speaking to the Sun, he then goes on to say that we:

…have not had the problems that us [Liverpool], Chelsea and Manchester United have had with injuries to key players.

It will be interesting to see how well they perform when they lose a few key players and face more tricky matches.

Hmm, yeah, he’s got a point. Heaven knows how we’d do if we had to do without the services of William Gallas, Tomas Rosicky or Robin van Persie. Oh.

Still at least we’ve not had to play any tricky games though, like an away North London derby fixture, going to Anfield or facing a game against a rampant ManUre side hot on our tails. Oh.

It must be silly season right now in football. No sooner has Fergie allowed his whisky stained lips to air-dry and cease to eject the demented spittle of a madman into the world, than dear ol’ Stevie feels the need to pick up Fergie’s baton and run with it.
