Arsene Wenger today confirmed Gallas has suffered a set back whilst on the road to recovery.

Gallas has been out of action since suffering a thigh injury with the last kick of training way back in November.

The French defender looked set to take some part in the weekend fixture at Blackburn, but will now sit out for a further 2-3 weeks.

‘Gallas was close but he had a little setback again,’ Wenger said

‘I do not think we will see Gallas for another two or three weeks.’

Bugger.

  • I’m not too concerned about his injury because that gives more time for Djourou and Senderos to play and gain the experiance that they need. Djourou has been impresive so far and senderos needs to play more to get back to his best. So let billy take his time and heal his injury so he can come back with bang like Henry.

  • whatever his injury is, it is not ‘niggling’. it would have been good to have him for the home game against mancs, but Arsene surely knows!

  • I echo YiC’s sentiments, we’re well stocked with talent in central defence, a little raw at times, but full of that vital ingredient – quality. I’m sure Billy will be back in good time, let’s hope to have him back in time for the resumption of the champions league, and think of the playing time djourou and swiss tony are getting.

  • Gallas has already become a crucial player for us. But the importance of competition for places has been demonstrated by the brilliant form of Senderos and Djourou. I honestly have no idea who I would pick to partner Toure tomorrow, they’ve both been playing so well. I even think we could afford to rest Toure if needs be.

  • yeh you could rest toure, i wouldnt mind i think it would make swiss tone and dj even stronger,as for gallas he can take as long as he likes…its all good

  • i just want the entire squad to be fit and fresh when the Champions League resumes, we have an even better chance this year, our team is more balanced and settled, and if we can remain fresh and injury free, we will go all the way this year..

  • The technical term for Gallas’ injury is M25-itus. Apparently it can only be solved by spending a million pounds on a plush new mansion. Anyway after consulting with his doctor (otherwise known as his estate agent) he will be making a move……..I mean recovery in about 3 weeks!!

  • i don’t understand, he has been injured for ages now, and it doesn’t look like a big injury, so what is the problem ? i wonder if there is more to it.
