Arsenal have continued their purge of young South American talent this summer as Brazilian left back Pedro Botelho has signed for Brazilian second tier club Atletico Paranaense for a nominal fee. Botelho joined from Figueirense in the summer of 2007 and has taken in loan spells at Salamanca, Celta Vigo, Cartagena, Rayo Vallecano and Levante. Crucially, Botelho never represented Arsenal`s first team.

“It was time to return to Brazilian football. I am still very young and I want to know more about Brazilian football, where I played little. It will be a great opportunity to play for a club like Atletico Paranaense.”

Also following Betelho and Vela out of the door is Bolivian youngster Samuel Galindo, who will undergo a trial at Spanish second tier side Lugo. Galindo joined Arsenal in the summer of 2010 from Real America and has taken in loan spells at Salamanca and Gimnastic. Galindo has been capped twice by the Bolivian national side but the 20 year old does not appear to have a future at Arsenal having never appeared for the club.
