Gabriel Fee Agreed & On His Way

It’s being reported that Villareal have now confirmed that we have reached an agreement with them for defender Gabriel Paulista.

The press speculate the fee is the 24 year old’s release clause of £15million and he was left out of their squad yesterday for the game against Levante and he said his goodbye’s to the fans at half time carrying a little yellow submarine.

As part of the deal Joel Campbell has also gone in the opposite direction apparently.

Villareal boss Marcelino said after the game.

‘Gabriel’s departure surprised us all because we didn’t expect to make changes to the squad in January. From a sporting point of view it’s unfortunate, but neither the club nor the player could afford to resist Arsenal’s offer. I wish him the greatest professional success of course.’

Speaking about Campbell, he added.

‘Campbell is an interesting signing for Villareal because he can play several positions and has a different profile to the players we already have.’

Campbell moves to them on a loan spell until the end of the season but the paperwork on both deals is yet to go through completely, but it should only be a matter of time.
