It’s again being reported that Arsenal have had scouts watching Nottingham Forest attacker Ben Brereton.

The 17 year old’s stock continues to rise this season with his performances for the City Ground outfit, and in what is his breakthrough year at the club, media speculation have already had a number of Premier League scouts casting their eyes over him with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool pretty regularly linked.

The Sun reported this weekend that we were the latest to run our eye over the new England Under 19 player, but having been linked before if we were in attendance for their two nil victory over Huddersfield Town on Saturday, then it would be a follow up really.

Having begun the season as a regular in their Under 23 squad, and having made his debut in late January in their game against Leeds United, Brereton has now notched up nine starting appearances with four showings from the bench and in that time he’s hit three goals.

Admittedly if we have an interest it would be as one for the future but his impact in 2017 does make him the kind of youngster we’d look to add to our youth ranks.

Having now made his England bow following his maiden call up at international level, Brereton was also in the running for Apprentice of the Year at Sunday’s EFL Awards ceremony – and he won the gong –
but being nominated, winning and now reportedly having a £10million price tag on his head, he hasn’t had a bad year.
