With the big game a little over 24 hours away, United manager, Ol Purple Nose has been talking about Arsenal’s period of transition.
This has been the Gunners worse ever start to a Premiership season even though we haven’t played too badly. Mr Wenger is in the process of building hid third title challenging team.
Sir Alex has commented on Arsenal’s problems and the similar experience he has suffered over the past few years.
‘It’s all change at Arsenal with the loss of big figures like Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires, Ashley Cole and last season Patrick Vieira,’ said Fergie. ‘When that happens you have to be patient for the next stage of development.’
‘It’s a transitional period for them that probably reflects their results so far this season which, by their standards, have fallen short of the kind of start they were aiming for.
‘I know exactly what they are experiencing because we’ve been through a similar situation ourselves. As one great team of ours started to fade, I embarked on a rebuilding exercise.’
‘It was obvious at some point that I would need to start replacing people and bring in a new group of young players who could develop into a major force themselves.’
‘But it has been a difficult time.’
Over the past few weeks we have been taunted by supporters of many clubs that due to the start of our season we are now a team on the down, but if you have a good look at our team, that is really not true.
Arsene Wenger has built an awesome foundation on which to build and we now have a massive core of players who are, or have the potential to be world beaters, and we have them all over the park.
This season may not be our year, but all we need is patience with the team and faith in Arsene Wenger and the glory days will soon return.
