The future of Mesut Ozil isn’t clear, like a good few others at Arsenal, but the German World Cup winner doesn’t appear to have any interest in leaving for Fenerbahce.

Contract talks with Ozil are on hold until the end of the season, by which time he’ll be moving into the final 12 months of his existing deal. Should the midfielder make it clear fresh terms aren’t going to be signed Arsenal will have a decision to make.

But, should the Turkish side genuinely hold the interest they reportedly have, Ozil, quoted by the Metro with what he told, isn’t planning on joining Fenerbahce.

He said: ‘Many people ask me that question [about Fenerbahce], my family, my friends. When they hear something like that they keep telling me: “Join that club” or “Go there!” But at the moment I have a contract at Arsenal and I do not think about Turkey or other leagues.’

Ozil, 28, not having an interest in going to Fenerbahce, who would be unlikely to match his wage demands let alone Arsenal’s asking price, isn’t surprising really as any exit from north London would result in him heading to one of Europe’s top leagues, with all respect to Turkey this isn’t one of them.

Things can change in the future but Ozil, for the time being anyway, reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal.

Adding: ‘You can never know what is going to happen in the future. I feel very, very comfortable here.’
