The tragic news has just broken that football has lost one of it’s greatest character as Bobby Robson has passed away following a long battle with cancer.

Bobby Robson will be remembered fondly by everyone involved in football, whether that be players, managers, backroom staff or fans. He was a real character and provided many great footballing and comedic moments. His football management united the nation in 1990 as he almost took his team to the world cup final after an epic battle with the Germans.

As with most people who have watched football for a long time, everyone has their favorite story about Bobby Robson, and I’m no different.

Many years ago a youngman went along to a book shop where Bobby was doing a book signing session for his latest book. After waiting for a long time for all the waiting people to get their books signed it was finally the turn of this eager fellow. As he handed Bobby the book he said hello, and as Bobby began to sign his name he was asked, ‘how many books have you signed today Bobby?’, to which the reply came ‘Oh hundreds son, hundreds!’.

Upon returning home, he opened his freshly autographed book and inside read:

‘Best Wishies, Bobby Hundreds’

I’m sure as the tributes come flooding in, more and more stories just like this one will be told over and over in the memory of this great man.

Rest In Peace Bobby Hundreds.
