Cesc Fabregas has expressed his relief at scoring a Premier League goal for the first time in 11 months, and it that it came against our Old bogey side from Bolton.

Fabregas scored seconds after the restart (as I was throwing the dreggs of my pint down my throat, grrrrr) and it proved to be the winner, and a goal that in all probability gave us the Champions League football we so badly crave.

‘It has been amazing, crazy. I have had so many chances, but I have not been taking them,’ said the Spaniard.

‘It is also important for my confidence as well.

‘In November, I said I should have scored 10 goals – that is the way it is in football sometimes. You score one, then you score five and then maybe go five games without a goal.

‘I was saying to myself that it did not upset me because it is not normal to have so many chances and not score.

‘Sometimes you make the shot of your life, and you hit the woodwork, sometimes the keeper made a fantastic save and sometimes I was just not taking it.

‘Fortunately against Bolton was the day – let’s see if I can score some more now.’

And before I get bashed for being one of these fans who is never in his seat for the whistles, this was the first time in my life I have missed a minute of a game (sodding queues for beer) and after missing that goal, it will be the last.
