Cesc Fabregas is aiming for a speedy recovery after jogging for the first time since injuring his knee against Liverpool in December.

The Arsenal captain was injured after he went in for a 50/50 ball with Xabi Alonso (oh the irony) and easily came off the worst.

However the Spanish midfield maestro is already thinking about making his comeback after putting some weight on the knee and doing a spot of jogging.

In his matchday programmw Cesc said, ‘My leg is getting stronger and the doctors tell me that the ligament has healed,’

‘I will take it step by step, but hopefully I can come back earlier than first expected. However, let’s wait and see.’

‘Now it is about building up the muscle and on Thursday I had a very little jog for the first time, so it is good news and I am happy because I can see a big improvement.’

‘I will be coming back to England in two weeks’ time and, after being assessed by the physios, we will set a target date for my return.’

I’m not one to want a player to rush back too soon, but I just wonder if our result since his injury would have been any better had he been in the team?
