Everything In Place For Arsenal

Arsenal’s luck seems to have taken a turn for the better this weekend, with everything falling into to place for a fantastic season climax.

From an Arsenal fans point of view, our premiership season has been very disapointing, with our form resembling a rollercoaster at Alton Towers. But now, we seem to have upped a gear or two, the football has clicked back into place and we’re firing once again.

Succsesive victories over Fulham, Liverpool, Charlton and most recently, the 5-0 thrashing of Aston Villa has seen us take pole position for that 4th Champion’s League spot. Spurs were convinced it was theirs, Bolton and Blackburn thought they were in with a chance and it is still possible any one of these clubs could snath that all important place in the CL.

This weekend however was a weekend that swung the balance firmly in the directiion of North London, the Red and White section of North London that is.

We all know what happened at Highbury, the skill of Henry has remined everyone what we still have in our locker, but it was results elsewhere that made me smile that little bit more.

Last night, Blackburn earned a 1-1 draw with Wigan with a late late goal that could have possibly been chalked out for a foul on the Wigan keeper after Lucas Neil steamed into him only for the ball to drop for Kuqi to ram home. Both teams had semmingly good goals ruled out.

Over the weekend a result that Arsenal needed but smiled a little less about was Man United’s victory over Bolton. United are too far in front for us to catch and with Bolton breathing down our necks we really needed them to lose, but it’s never nice to see Man Utd win. Anyhoo, they sealed victory with goals from Saha and Van Horseface.

But by far the biggest and bestest result of the weekend was Sp*rs losing 3-1 to Newcastle United. Not only did it enable us to overtake Tottenham should we win our game in hand, nor was it just extremely funny to watch Jermaine Jenas miss an open goal but well, but it’s always amusing to see Spurs lose.
