Danny Welbeck, the unfortunate Arsenal and England striker – who has suffered a couple of long-term injuries since his arrival from Manchester United – is closing in on a first team return.

Therefore Arsene Wenger has been given a positive injury boost!

He’ll be a little bit off a playing return but Wenger has confirmed Welbeck will return to full training next week. Therefore he’ll potentially become an option in the New Year – almost like a new signing if you will.

Ahead of the huge Premier League meeting with Manchester City on Sunday the Arsenal boss completed his usual media formalities. His conference has seen this update on Welbeck with Wenger quoted by as saying.

‘Danny Welbeck is one week away from being back in full training with the squad.’

Welbeck has of course been sidelined by his latest knee injury since the setback – also against City at the Etihad Stadium – earlier in the year.

It was also confirmed by Wenger the squad for the game on Sunday will basically be the same as the one that lost at Everton. However, Aaron Ramsey should be back in contention next week.

‘For the City game we should have approximately the same squad who went to Everton. Nobody’s back – Ramsey`s not back. He is the closest to coming back and we have some knocks and bruises but they should all be available again. Next week I believe he should be back in the squad in normal training.’
