Eduardo is fully fit but still not ready yet Arsene Wenger said today. The striker has had only 45 minutes in a reserve game since recovering from a horrific, career threatening injury suffered almost a year ago against Birmingham last February.
Wenger told Arsenal TV Online “Eduardo is fit now and available to play. Of course he lacks competition and you can`t put him into a Premier League game at the moment. But I have been impressed with his performances in training this week.”
Understandably the manager is taking a cautious approach to bringing Eduardo back
“We will see how he develops now,” said Arsene. ‘Everybody is so impatient with him.
‘You know that [the] most difficult part for a player when he has been out for so long is for him to be patient enough to be competitive at the top level. They feel they are ready but you know they are not quite ready.
“Let`s not rush it too much. He has played 45 minutes after nine months out so that means he is not ready to play in the Premier League just yet.”
The sooner Eduardo can produce the form that earned him 12 goals and 10 assists, in just 22 starts last season, the better it will be for the team. It seems Eduardo is just as impatient to get back playing as the supporters are for him to be back.
