Edu voices club’s concerns over 26-cap int’l after lack of game time this season

|

Edu Gaspar has claimed that Arsenal are worried about Lucas Torreira and his happiness after speaking about the player’s situation at Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan has failed to start any of the last 11 La Liga games as he finds himself on the bench for the Wanda Metropolitano giants.

Speaking to Spanish media, the technical director claimed that the club has plenty of clubs interested in making a move for the diminutive midfielder.

Should Arsenal let Torreira leave this summer?

Yes

No

Edu said: “The situation is very simple. Arsenal are concerned about Torreira, his happiness, that he plays and that he’s well. We want to know about him, how he feels and, later, of course, know what Atletico think.”

“For us, Lucas and his happiness is the most important thing. If everyone is happy, we will continue like this, if Lucas is not well, we will seek a change because there are many teams that are calling me to ask about the player’s situation.” (via AS)

If the player’s happiness is of the utmost priority, it proves incredibly baffling that the Gunners haven’t called the 26-cap Uruguay international from his disastrous loan spell in Madrid. It seems Diego Simeone is using the midfielder in a bit-part role, which will only see the value of the ace go down if he remains in Spain for the rest of the season.

The solution is simple, recall the star from his loan and ship him off to a club, whilst there is still widespread interest in him. Edu’s comments speaks volumes over how highly-chased Torreira is by clubs over Europe.

Then there’s issues surrounding Arsenal’s finances with the north London giants looking sell players before they even think about purchasing any. It’s not the most ideal situations and furthers highlights the need to move quickly to resolve the circumstances surrounding their ‘excellent’ defensive midfielder.

In other news, Theo Walcott called this ace a better finisher than Thierry Henry.
