Jack Wilshere and Granit Xhaka have reflected on last night’s victory over Chelsea in the League Cup semi final.

Having fallen one nil behind in the game as Chelsea took the lead, a Rudiger own goal saw us draw level and Xhaka himself scored what became the winner on the hour mark to put us through to the Final.

Speaking to the Official Site in his own post game press conference Wilshere credited a far better second half performance for seeing us through.

‘I think the team effort, especially in the second half. In the first half we didn`t start well and we knew that, but we got ourselves back in the game and in the second half we knew we had to improve and we dug deep. Granit got the goal and then we knew they would come forward, but I think we dealt with that really well.’

Pressed on whether the first half showing had the side worried when they fell behind.

‘It was strange, we might have got our formation wrong in the first 20 to 25 minutes and they took advantage of that. They`ve got players who can damage you through the middle and they did, but we came back into it and showed good character, I thought we were the better team in the second half.’

Reflecting back to the last Wembley trip we made in the cup.

‘As you said we`ve been to Wembley since then and we`ve got a good record. We know City are a good team and are going to give us a good test when we go there. But it`s a final, we need to be up for it, we need to be ready for it and we want to win that trophy.

As for Xhaka in his own interview, he explained.

‘I think we knew we didn`t play well in the first half and we changed the system in the second half and you can see in the second half we were the better team. I think it was my second goal for Arsenal inside the box. I am happy, I helped the team and we are happy, we go to Wembley now.’

Asked about form at Wembley.

‘I think if you play a final you want to win the trophy, so we go to the game against City and think we can win this game.’
