Over the past couple of weeks, Arsene Wenger has been having a major shake up as far as shirt numbers are concerned, with Johan Djourou the latest to get a new shirt.

But what’s all the fuss I hear you cry?

Well with the younger players, it’s a statement of intent. Big Phil Senderos, recently issued the number 6 shirt is now obviously Kolo Toure’s first choice partner, Fabregas also now one of the first names on the team sheet with his spanking new number 4 and Djourou has just practically been told he’s going to get much more action this coming season.

Upon the capture of Djourou, Wenger said………

‘We have also signed johan djourou… but forget that name i just told you for now!’

As if almost trying to hide him from the public eye. But now it appears his time will come. Having performed admirably when needed last season & good solid performance for his country, Johan will be called into action many times in a season that could bring us 50 games +.

I’m sure he is more than capable.

Djourou will now wear the number 20 shirt.

PS. Thanks to ‘Theking13’ for refreshing my memory
