Lucas Perez’s displeasure at his Arsenal situation and the fact he lost his number nine shirt to record signing Alexandre Lacazette was made clear this week.

His desire to return to former club Deportivo La Coruna was also voiced with his agent claiming his former club have made an offer to re-sign him less than a year after his Emirates Stadium arrival.

Agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle was quoted by the BBC: ‘Arsenal know we want to go, that there are no opportunities here.’

Perez, who scored seven goals in 21 appearances in total for Arsenal last season, not featuring since March following injury, looks as if he’ll leave the Gunners with the club making a significant loss?

Having signed for £17m last summer it was claimed by his agent the offer made to Arsenal from Deportivo, two weeks ago, is in excess of the reported £7.9m Sevilla paid Manchester City for Nolito.

Lovelle went on to say he felt Perez, who thought his dreams would be fulfilled joining Arsenal, was given fewer and fewer opportunities by Arsene Wenger despite the fact the forward did well when his chance came along and this exit is sought to keep alive his hopes of making it into Spain’s 2018 World Cup squad.

‘Deportivo made an offer a week ago – it is a permanent deal and worth more than Nolito’s move to Sevilla,’ said Lovelle. ‘Of course [he was told he would play more]. Lucas signed for Arsenal and was the happiest person in the world and with all of his dreams to fulfil. Every time he played he did well, but after every time he got fewer and fewer opportunities.’

It’ll clearly be in the best interests of all concerned for Perez to leave BUT he’ll only leave on Arsenal’s terms.
