Alexis Sanchez might remain a Manchester City target, according to Sky sources, but Arsene Wenger has said a decision has been made and Arsenal will ‘stick to that.’

He ISN’T being sold.

Wenger has repeatedly said Alexis wouldn’t be sold many a time but the suggestion from the Chilean is he wants to leave the Emirates Stadium, well, play in the Champions League, at least.

Arsenal WILL NOT sell Alexis this summer – Wenger is adamant.

He was quoted by Sky Sports: ‘The decision has been made and we will stick to that. The decision is not to sell.’

Alexis’ latest comments made his Champions League stance clear but Wenger feels the recent interview given in Chile has merely been portrayed as wanted and the whole thing painted a different picture.

Wenger went on to say the Premier League is the priority and always has been. Yet with Alexis’ help this season the Gunners could make a swift return to Europe’s top table.

‘I don’t give too much importance to things that are translated, you know. The whole interview that I got didn’t really mean that. The main focus for us is to concentrate on the Premier League and the Premier League for me today is more important than the Champions League.’

Adding: ‘We rested sometimes players in the group stages of the Champions League for the Premier League so that’s become the biggest importance for us. We played 20 years in the Champions League, that’s 17 years before Sanchez arrived and three years with him so he can get us back in there.’

Comparing the Robin van Persie exit for Manchester United, when he was sold with a year on his contract, going on to win the Premier League at Old Trafford in his first season, Wenger insisted the two are different.

‘Every case is different, Van Persie was going from 30 to 31, when he left he had one year on his contract. Sanchez is younger.’
