Arsenal’s new midfielder, Abou Diaby, has spoken of the disapointment he felt about the last gasp winner that knocked the Gunners out of the League Cup.

The 6’2 Frenchman started his first game for Arsenal, and was mighty proud to pull on the redcurrant shirt.

?It was a very big emotion for me to make my debut for Arsenal at Highbury,? said Diaby. ?When I was with the youth team at Auxerre, I used to watch Arsenal?s games. Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, they made me dream. And, now I was on the pitch with them.

?It was a bit weird but overall it was a dream come true. I played a bit at Everton last Saturday but, against Wigan, I started the game. I felt really proud.

?Unfortunately, the defeat wasted everything in my eyes. Like all the team, I was very disappointed.?

Diaby, now wants to put the crushing defeat behind him and work hard in training to push the team on to better things.

?I was a bit nervous at the beginning of the Wigan game,? he said, ?but after five minutes I felt better. I need a bit of time to adapt my game to English football and get to the rhythm. Little by little tonight, it was better on the pitch for me.

?Now I want to continue working hard at training to improve my game and make good performances for Arsenal.?
