Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has given Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil a December deadline for completing talks and a new deal at the club.

With both players inside of their final year of contract, speculation has been rife about their futures in recent months and the Evening Standard were reporting yesterday evening that a deadline was now in place given the minimal progress that has been made so far.

They report that an offer of around £300,000 a week was made to Alexis with £250,000 to Ozil, but with no deal done so far it appears Wenger has taken the next step towards his prophecy that the future of football will entail more players moving on at the end of their contracts – although there are plenty of January bases rumours when it comes to cashing in on the pair.

‘No decision has been made on that front. Do we let anyone go in January? We’ll have to think about that to see where we stand with them at the end of December.’
