David Ornstein makes revelation about who Arsenal will target in summer transfer window

|

Arsenal are looking to sign young talent with an eye for the future as opposed to signing experienced players who will expect starts, according to David Ornstein.

In the same report, the famed journalist claimed that the Gunners were never likely to sign a left-back in the January transfer window. He’s also said that the north London outfit are targeting a left-back during the summer transfer window after the loan exit of Sead Kolasinac and injury to Kieran Tierney.

Left-back is the one area of the pitch where Mikel Arteta’s side can ill-afford an injury. The last three Premier League outings have shown exactly why having a left-footer on the left side of defence is crucial with Cedric Soares having struggled massively.

What type of player should Arsenal sign?

Experienced

Young

If anything, I think the club have been extremely lacklustre in their approach during last month’s transfer window where Sead Kolasinac was allowed to leave without a replacement forthcoming. It has left the club in a hazardous position for the remainder of the campaign with huge question marks over Tierney’s fitness for Arteta.

However, it’s a breath of fresh air that the side won’t be looking at experienced stars and are rather targeting young talent who can be developed by Arteta. It seems developing players is the key theme so far under the Spanish coach and having seen how badly the senior players have performed all season, it’s a trick I’m all for.

Not signing a replacement for Kolasinac was one of the worst moves this club could’ve done. They are now paying for their misdemeanour in the form of Soares at left-back, a horrible option. However, targeting youngsters is definitely the way to go given how badly senior players have shown themselves to be this year.

In other news, a former Premier League ref has made a controversial statement about Arsenal’s loss to Aston Villa.
