Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has been named the Czech Player of the Year for a record ninth time.

Our goalkeeper topped a poll of players, coaches, officials and journalists to take the gong for the ninth time in his career and as the votes were tallied he knocked Hertha Berlin’s Vladimir Darida into second place and Henan Jianye’s Borek Dockal into third place.

Cech retired from international football following the European Championships in 2016 and he had 124 caps for the Czech Republic across his international career.

With a number of games remaining in the 2016/17 campaign, Cech will be hoping to acknowledge this award by seeing Arsenal return to some proper form and results before the end of the year.
