Calum Chambers hasn’t made his return to pre-season training with Arsenal yet but if interest is stepped up his preparations for the new campaign could come across London anyway?

According to Sky Sports Crystal Palace are interested in signing him.

Due to his involvement with England at the U21 European Championships Chambers, who spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, hasn’t travelled with the Gunners squad to Australia and China, which saw him afforded a holiday after his exploits in Poland.

Chambers enjoyed a successful first season at Arsenal, after a £16m transfer from Southampton, as he made 36 appearances in total. But he was limited to just a couple of Premier League starts in his second with him third was spent at the Riverside Stadium as Middlesbrough were relegated.

Valued at £20m it wasn’t mentioned by Sky if Crystal Palace’s interest in Chambers, 22, was temporary or on a permanent basis? Palace have already signed Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a season-long deal so only have one loan slot available.

If Chambers is going again this has to be permanently I would think as if he’s not coming back into Arsene Wenger’s plans during the coming season another year away from the Emirates on loan isn’t likely to make much difference is it?
