Francis Coquelin and Alex Iwobi have both been giving their thoughts following vitory over Hull City at the weekend.

In Coquelin’s post game press interview, as he was speaking to the Official Site and the wider media, Coquelin admitted he was ‘screaming at Granit to shoot’ in the moments before he opened his club account because he knew he had that in his locker from training sessions.

‘I think it was a superb finish. I was right behind him and I don`t know if he was going to shoot, I was screaming at him ‘shoot, shoot` in German. That`s a great strike to be fair, a great first goal to score for the club and hopefully many more to come as well. I think it was Mo who passed him the ball so I can`t claim the assist, but I`ll take a bit of it!’

As for the overall performance on the day in the four one victory, Coquelin went on to say.

‘It was a good three points. It was a difficult game, obviously the red card made it a bit easier for us but it was a tough match so it was really pleasing to get the win. It could have been nervy, but I think in the last few weeks we have shown our character, in the last two games we were behind and came back into it. Today we showed that even when a team comes back at us we have the character to finish it off. So that’s good for the future and now we can concentrate on the next games coming up.’

As for Iwobi, in his own interviews the main focus was on him almost finding the net before Alexis Sanchez got the final telling touch.

‘I honestly thought I`d scored, but he kept on saying ‘I got a touch, I got a touch!` Please, let it be my goal! At the end of the day, we won, so that`s all that matters. It gives me confidence in every game I play, I`m excited, I can`t wait to play and can`t wait to get minutes on the pitch. I`m also enjoying my football which is what matters to me.’

He also had praise for Alexis and Theo Walcott.

‘They`re such quality players. When I train with them I`m always learning and I`m still learning. I`m still young, I guess the more I play the more I`ll mature on the pitch. Playing with them helps me. We created so many chances, we dominated the play. We have a strong squad, not just players on the pitch but also players off the pitch. We have a lot of quality so we could have a great season.’
