Arsenal left back, Gael Clichy, could possibly be out of action till after Christmas after breaking his foot in the European U21 Play Off match with England, which finished 1-1.

‘I’m really disappointed, it’s a real shame, because I felt I was in good form,’ Clichy said Monday. ‘It was a bad time to get injured. Now I just have to look after myself and come back as soon as possible.
‘But I’m sure that mentally I’ll come back stronger in the future.’

The news will no doubt unsettle Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger after a series of injuries following internationals this season.

With Ashley Cole still 2 weeks away from recovery and Justin Hoyte currently on a seasons long loan at Sunderland, the Arsenal manager has few options. The likelyhood being, French centreback, Pascal Cygan, be used after playing in that position a number of times for the Gunners, or possibly move Lauren to the Left Back position with the ever willing Emmanuel Eboue filling in on the right.

Clichy’s injury is to the same metatarsal bone he injured last season albeit in a slightly different position.
