So we enter the business end of the season with only 12 games remaining in the league and the FA Cup quarter finals fast approaching.

The Gunners find themselves in good stead in the league only 2 points away from leaders Leicester and are only a replay away from an FA Cup quarter final tie at home to Watford.

However a defeat to Barcelona in midweek has seen us all but eliminated from the Champions League and unfortunately we have a history of a complete season collapse all at the same time.

Before Barcelona seal our Champions League fate on the 16th March Arsenal have 3, possibly 4 league games (2 HUGE matches against Man Utd and Spurs) and 1, possibly 2 FA Cup matches. We could be top of the league and into the semi finals of the FA Cup or we could be 4th in the table and out on our arses.

Of course it could be a mixture of the two.

Arsene Wenger has described this as a key moment in Arsenal`s season, and that`s bloody understating it.

“It is the key period, we work the whole season for this period and that`s where you`re really tested but it`s where you have an opportunity to show your quality as well. On that front, that is the most interesting period of the season.”

“You can show quality, nerves and desire as well. We need to focus on the Premier League where we have a big part to play. Everybody drops points and it is unpredictable. We have rebuilt a good run in the Premier League and we need to continue that.”

“How many points that will be needed [to win the title]? We don`t know. Let`s not set any limit on the number of points we can get. We have put ourselves in a strong position again. We want to take advantage of that and continue our good run in the Premier League.”

If we can get 3 points at Old Trafford on Sunday, and there`s no reason we should, I will be convinced this team is made of different stuff and can go on to win the league, but a loss and I`ll be feeling a sickening sense of déjà vu and will be seriously concerned for Arsenal`s confidence going into the games against Spurs, Swansea and Hull City.

Can we avoid implosion? I hope so.
