It`s safe to say that Arsenal are in pretty good shape at the moment, 2nd in the Premier League, into the FA Cup semi final that is very winnable and for the first time in a long time we`ve got an almost full compliment of players to choose from.

Yes, the sun is shining on us right now. But not only are things looking rosy, but we`re playing excellent football and we`re not only the form team in the Premier League but we`re actually the form team in the whole of Europe.

Naturally with Arsenal sitting in second place in the league there`s been much talk of the title challenge, with the Gunners being closest to Chelsea that`s going to happen, but the Lotto Chav`s lead is that great that a serious challenge is not very realistic. That`s not to say it couldn`t happen what with the Blues still needing to play on form Arsenal, Man Utd and the not so on form Liverpool, but for a genuine chance we could have done with Rob Green being able to kick a ball further than my 7 year old son yesterday.

Per Mertesacker has been an integral cog in the Arsenal machine this season, and he says the talk of the title is not realistic due to Chelsea`s lead and that he and his team mates are just concentrating on their own game.

Speaking on Arsenal.com he said “It`s not in our hands anymore, they have a decent lead so it`s very difficult for us at the moment, we`re just focusing on ourselves and that has made us very strong in recent weeks.”

“It has been a fantastic journey throughout the whole season but at the moment we are quite sharp and we`re trying to take advantage of that. We want to try to continue that because it makes us stronger and gives us a lot of credit and respect.”

“We are on a good run and Chelsea have been absolutely amazing this season, so we`re trying to compete with them at the top. It`s not in our hands anymore but we`re trying to focus on ourselves.”

“Great togetherness, great spirit and great cohesion is what makes us strong. Even if we have dropped points this season, we came back even stronger.”

“At the moment we can`t learn from defeat because of our great run, we have to learn from victories. There`s a lot to improve but the win at Burnley is just about the result.”
