It’s being reported today that Barcelona have given up on trying to sign Hector Bellerin this summer and have instead turned their attentions to Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta.
The report emanates from Spanish outlet Sport and has been picked up on by the Mirror amongst others today.
They state that a meeting with new manager Ernesto Valverde came to the conclusion that they would end their interest in our right back, especially in light of the reported £40/£50million fee it would take to force a deal through.
With Chelsea bringing in Antonio Rudiger from Roma, they suggest that Barcelona will instead turn their attentions to Azpilicueta owing to the increased competition but whether Chelsea would let him go is open for debate.
One thing is for sure though, this won’t end the speculation linking Bellerin with Barcelona.
