The Daily Mail has claimed Jack Wilshere is ‘eager’ to join AC Milan in the summer with such a move backed by former England captain David Beckham.

Wilshere had been linked with AC Milan last summer but ended up joining Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal instead, despite reportedly being keen on joining Milan at the time.

Having sought the advice of Beckham – who had two loan spells with AC Milan – the recommendation was that Wilshere make the move to Milan. The success of England teammate Joe Hart’s loan spell at Torino in Serie A has also been ‘noted’ by the midfielder.

Wilshere’s long-term future at Arsenal remains in doubt with him moving into the final year of his contract in the summer but it’s not a certainty a new deal isn’t going to be signed.

It was also mooted Wilshere could sign an extension to his deal then be loaned out for another season? This seems an unlikely scenario too me as if he’s staying with the Gunners he’ll be involved next term.

The Mail also claimed Watford, Crystal Palace, Roma and Benfica are ‘among clubs monitoring Wilshere’s situation.’
