Arsenal utility defender and ex Reserve team captain Kyle Bartley has joined Swansea City for a fee of around £1m. Bartley made his Arsenal debut in a 1-0 Champions League defeat at Olympiacos in December 2009. Since, he has taken in loan spells at Sheffield United and Glasgow Rangers.

Bartley played in the pre season tour of Asia, but Arsene clearly didn’t see enough to keep him on. He underwent a medical at Swansea this evening and has joined them on a permanent deal.

On his twitter page, Bartley revealed, ‘Swansea deal complete. Very happy.. Was an extremely tough decision for me to leave arsenal, but felt the time was right.

‘Swansea offered me an opportunity.. And I’m extremely excited to start my career here, will always be thankful to arsenal for my education..

‘Was told my chances of game time this year would be limited, and as an ambitious young player I wanted to play in the premiership.

‘Now I’m here I will give 100% for Swansea. Thankyou everyone who has been behind me. New chapter for me.. And I can’t wait. Kyle.’

All reasonable enough.
