Aston Villa Was A Mental Test

Arsene Wenger has described the game against Aston Villa as a mental test that thankfully the players passed.

Speaking to arsenal.com following the rather dramatic Cup affair, Wenger said that an injection of self belief was critical to our performance and certainly the comeback, because really we didn’t deserve to be 2-0 by half time.

‘I said that we have the character and the determination to stay in this competition. It was a good test of our mental qualities and I think we passed it in a positive way. It was a bit harsh for us to be 2-0, but once you get it back to 2-1 you know you can come back. I must say I am very proud of the players.’
