Ever since the January transfer window slammed shut at 5pm(ish) yesterday, confusion has reigned supreme as to whether the Gunners had captured their main target, Andrei Arshavin.

Despite the registration paperwork allegedly reaching Premier League head quarters at 4.30pm, a good half an hour before the window closed, the deal has still the be ratified after only one of the PL’s administrators made an appearance at work after some freak snow storms.

However, this morning it’s seems that the transfer will be confirmed (though if they could get their fingers out it would be appreciated) by the Premier League and that Arshavin will wear the number 23 shirt.

Indeed Zenit St. Petersburg claim the transfer had gone through.

Zenit spokesman Alexei Petrov (the idiot who caused the confusion in the first place by claiming the deal had fallen through at the last) said ‘Both clubs have managed to complete the deal. Arshavin will play for Arsenal from now on, the conditions of the contract are very favourable for Zenit, the value of the deal is much more than £12million.’

So one of the most ridiculous transfer in living memory is about to draw to a close, and with that I’d urge Arsene Wenger and his board never to deal with the rank amateurs at Zenit who have done absolutely nothing to make this deal run smoothly, indeed they made a pretty good job of ensuring this transfer was enveloped in twattishness.
