In a time when it seems almost fashionable for Russian billionaires to own a football club as some kind of sick hobby, it was inevitable that sooner or later the mighty Gunners would be linked with such a deal.
However, after many tense seconds of the rumours doing the rounds, Arsenal Holdings plc has issued a statement saying it’s all bollocks.
If I’m being honest I’ll admit to being slightly worried about these rumours and was convinced that this would be the worst thing that ever happened to Arsenal Football Club, but it did sound plausible. But true to our good form, we wasted no time in letting worrying fans know that the club is not to be sold.
The statement on Arsenal.com read,
Arsenal Holdings plc has noted the speculation in the media that it has received an approach or has been in talks which may lead to an offer for the Company.
The Board of Directors confirms that it is not and has not been in any such talks and has not received any such approach.
Could you honestly see Arsene Wenger hanging around if he woke to find a horses head in his bed everytime we didn’t win a trophy?!
I for one am extatic that the club will remain as it is.
