According to the players agent, Arsenal are set to offer Ivorian midfielder, Emmanuel Eboue a new contract as the North London outfit reject an offer from Atletico Madrid.

Franjo Vranjkovic claims the offer was rejected immediately and was followed up with a call from Wenger offering to enter into contract negotiations.

We received a few days ago an official request from Atletico Madrid which was passed to Arsenal,” Vranjkovic told tuttomercatoweb.

“I have the fax from the British club`s director, Ken Friar, who wrote to me to say they are not interested in the offer and the player remains in London.’

“Then I received a call from Arsene Wenger, who invited me to go to England to start negotiations over a renewal, so I see no possibility that the player will leave Arsenal.”

Many Arsenal fans (me included) believe Eboue isn’t good enough to be a first team player at Arsenal, however in lean times such as these he could make a useful squad player.
