Barcelona have turned down Arsenal target, Neto’s request to leave the club during this transfer window, according to manager Ronald Koeman.

The Dutchman revealed that the ‘keeper asked to leave the club this month, however, the request was rejected with the Catalan giants insisting they need the former Valencia man.

According to Sky Sport’s Dharmesh Sheth (13/01/21, 5:05pm), the Gunners are interested in signing the La Liga man, who joined the Spanish side in 2019.

Should Arsenal sign Yves Bissouma this month?

Yes

No

Having had the misfortune of watching Alex Runarsson play in goal for the north London outfit this season, there’s an urgent need for a number two. The Iceland international has shown that he is nowhere good enough to make a difference for a side, who is an injury away from Bernd Leno, into going into full meltdown.

Runarsson’s performance against Manchester City in last month’s EFL Cup game was a stark reminder of the red flags that were raised prior to his signing back in September. His positioning, ball handling and distribution were all been underwhelming as the Emirates Stadium giants were swept aside by Pep Guardiola’s men.

Neto could be the man to fill the void which will be left if the Icelandic ace departs N5 this month. However, with Koeman adamant that he will not be allowed to leave, it seems the Gunners will need to put in a substantial bid and with funds proving tight this month, it’s hard to see a move being plausible.

In other news, Arsenal could get money for this young ace even if he leaves the club on a free transfer.
